Is SafeSteps really free?
Yes, 100% free. No subscription, no premium tier, no hidden costs. SafeSteps is built by APS ItaPunjabi as a community service for immigrant families in Italy.
Does it work without internet?
Yes! App blocks and screen time limits work offline. The child's device caches all rules locally — no loopholes when Wi-Fi is off.
Can my child bypass SafeSteps?
SafeSteps replaces the home screen and uses Android's Device Administrator and Accessibility features to prevent removal. Children cannot uninstall it without the parent's password.
Is my data safe?
All data is stored on Google Firebase servers in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). We never sell your data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Does it drain the battery?
No — SafeSteps is optimised for low battery usage. It uses push notifications instead of constant polling, so battery impact is minimal.
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings in the app and tap "Delete my account & all data". This permanently removes all your data from our servers within 30 days, as required by GDPR.
